"Building on classic folk and '60s pop influences..."You're Worth It,"...blends peppy pop-rock instrumentation with infectious "sha-la-la" harmonies to convey an empowering, optimistic musical love letter." - Exclaim.ca
TORONTO, ON - JULY 12, 2017 - On September 15, Saskatchewan's The Karpinka Brothers will release, Talk Is Cheap, their most realized and expansive fourth studio album produced by Grammy nominee Howard Bilerman. The brothers recently shared the first single, You're Worth It, via Exclaim.ca. Once described by fellow Canadian songwriter Joel Plaskett as “Buddy Holly boogie meets Crowded House" - The Karpinka Brothers are ready to expand their audience with this new set of music, captured at Bilerman's (Arcade Fire, Leonard Cohen, Vic Chestnutt) legendary Hotel2Tango studio in Montréal. A fall tour will commence in September - with dates planned for Vancouver, Edmonton and Halifax to name a few. Details can be found below and over at www.k-bros.ca.
What's The Story about the album Talk Is Cheap?
Talk Is Cheap feels like a call to arms. It finds a seemingly impossible balance of sincerity and positivity. When The Karpinka Brothers sing lines like “Where would I be without music in my heart?” You not only believe them, you relate without a trace of irony. In addition to sharing the stage with influential artists like John K. Samson and Gordon Lightfoot, they’ve played dozens of concerts for residents of a local long-term care residence in their hometown of Saskatoon.
Their eloquent blend of timeless folk and 60s pop songs are complimented by an impressive list of contributing musicians including Mathieu Charbonneau (Timber Timbre) on piano and keys, Jamie Thompson (Unicorns/Islands) on drums and percussion, Sophie Trudeau (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) on violin, Joel Kerr (Sarah Slean) on bass, and backing vocals by Krista Muir.
