WHAT'S THE STORY ABOUT THE 2018 LINEUP?
Elliott BROOD is a three-piece Folk Rock Alt Country band based in Hamilton, Canada. Their brand of fuzzed-up roots music has always made for a captivating, and frenetic live performance. That energy has always translated onto the band's five previous critically acclaimed records. In 2013 the band won a Juno Award for their World War One inspired album "Days Into Years". Over the course of their career they have been nominated for a total of five Juno awards. In 2009 they were shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize and in 2012 the band found themselves nominated for a Genie Award for their original song "West End Sky" that was featured in the film "Grown Up Movie Star". Their style has been called everything from 'blackgrass' to 'death country,' but those descriptions don't capture the transcendent heights of their unique approach to roots music. Fall 2017 the band released their sixth full-length studio album "Ghost Gardens" via Paper Bag Records. Elliott BROOD are Mark Sasso, Casey Laforet and Stephen Pitkin.

Fast Romantics have been blurring the lines between modern indie-rock and classic pop for some time, carving their own unique path to radio success. But with their latest release American Love, the world is paying much more attention to this fast growing Toronto-based band. Led by singer-songwriter Matthew Angus, Fast Romantics have begun to earn a loyal following with their irresistible pop hooks, anthemic live shows, and Angus’ emotive and personal approach to lyricism, often infused with the political and social chaos of the times.
Their recent release, American Love, produced by the dynamic duo of Gus Van Go and Werner F (Wintersleep, Arkells, Whitehorse) serves as a follow-up to the band’s 2013 LP, Afterlife Blues, bringing together the most lyrical songs Angus has composed to date and serves as the first record by what Angus describes as a “brand-new band.” The group — originally founded in 2008 in Calgary between sole-survivors Angus and bassist Jeffrey Lewis -- cleaned house in 2015, and added Toronto-based singer-songwriter Kirty, Kevin Black, Nick McKinlay, and Lisa Lorenz around the time they were set to record their breakthrough single Julia in 2015. “Julia” ended up climbing the charts, finding itself charting on commercial/AAA radio on both sides of the border, and eventually won the SOCAN national songwriting prize in 2016.
The first single from American Love — the anthemic “Why We Fight”— broke the top 20 on the Canadian alternative rock charts (Mediabase) and hit #1 on the CBC R2 National Charts, and the band was short-listed for the prestigious Anchor Award at the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany. Having earned a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in Canada, the band released a fresh new single “Get Loved” in October 2017. The single release was accompanied by an international tour.

Soaked in electric crescendos and folk-tinged sing-along anthems, Shred Kelly is known for their high energy live show that ignites dance floors with their alternative folk sound. Over three albums and countless tours, the five British Columbians have developed their signature sound by taking inspiration from the mountains where they hail from and the people who inhabit them. Shred Kelly have seamlessly fused traditional instrumentation with modern rock, presenting a sound that is both unique and compelling.

Jackpine (formerly The Lost Angelos) is a rock band from Waterdown, Ontario, Canada. The group consists of Nik Hirst (keys, vocals, harp), Ryan Gaynor (drums, vocals), Max Boyko (guitar, vocals) and Dave Pearson (bass, vocals). Crafting their songs in a cozy wood cabin beneath the sway of a mighty Jack pine, the band creates a musical juxtaposition between old and new, rural and urban, and plays with energy and integrity. The band's rustic blues/roots sound draws heavily from 1970s artists, including The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Allman Brothers Band, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. In the summer of 2016, Jackpine tracked their debut EP (Lately-EP) at Helm Recording, and released it in May 2017 under their previous name. Jackpine looks forward to playing at Go North Music Festival and performing our song "Black Bear", which is a crowd favourite and a song about riding on one of the final tour trains from Sault Ste. Marie to Hearst, Ontario.

Harrow Fair is Miranda Mulholland (formerly of Great Lake Swimmers) & Andrew Penner (Sunparlour Players). One part stomping songs that echo early country and rock n roll. The other gritty ballads that sound sweet and haunted. This duo's evocative and rapidly expanding collection of songs are utterly foreign, oddly familiar and deeply gratifying. Debut full-length album "Call To Arms" is out now.

"Singer", "Songwriter", "Storyteller", "Multi-Instrumentalist", "Looper" - all words used to describe Ambre McLean. However one may attempt to describe her, with her new album "My Heart", Ambre has been wowing audiences from coast to coast with her unique brand of genre-defying musicality. "I never write a set list" explains McLean. "Every audience is different - different tastes, different moods, different energies. I feed off of that. Every show becomes something different, and I love that because you never know how the night will unfold.
