TORONTO, ON - MAY 2, 2018 - TODAY, Toronto's For Esmé premieres their new video for Small Talk via NOWNESS. "The video is a movement based visual exploration of the spaces and places in the world where a woman feels free to be truly herself," shares frontwoman Mar Meredith. The video was co-directed by Chelsea McMullan and Quote Unquote Collective. Small Talk will officially be released this Friday, May 4th.
In support of their new album, Righteous Woman, due out on May 25, 2018, For Esmé have announced tour dates, including an official hometown show at The Drake Underground on May 31st. Mar is really excited to unveil her new five-piece band featuring Karrie Douglas (HIGHS), Morgan Doctor (Jill Barber, Fefe Dobson, Andy Kim), Charles Tilden (Delta Will) and Lewis Parker. This new set up is a huge step forward for For Esmé, abandoning all backing tracks in favour of a fully live, technical and dynamic show. Dare you not to dance! Additional dates will include Guelph, Peterborough, and Ottawa with more to be announced at www.foresmemusic.com.
Righteous Woman is a feminist awakening and excavation of the voices within. Co-created with collaborator Dave Thiel and producer James Bunton (Donovan Woods, Too Attached), and mastered by Mandy Parnell (Bjork, Aphex Twin, Dirty Projectors), the album is by and large a conduit for Meredith's distinct voice. Previously released singles Doubtmouth and For Others have been featured on Indie Shuffle, Sidewalk Hustle, The Revue, Kaltblut Magazine, High Clouds, IX Daily, Vanyaland, and IMPOSE. Doubtmouth is currently at #5 on the CBC Radio 3 Top 30, and For Others is featured on Spotify's Outliers playlist.

What's The Story About For Esmé?
Fronted by Mar Meredith, For Esmé is an unabashedly feminist exploration of self-love and the courage of conviction in uncertain times. A rare mix of confession and confection, the songs of For Esmé push the limits of pop to embrace infinite beauty while provoking an honest exchange of identity and inner voice. With electric anthems steeped in bright melody and driven by deeper meaning, For Esmé makes music for this moment, glittering ruminations unapologetic in their demand to be heard.
Inspired by an apathetic generation, their 2015 album SUGAR is “electronic pop music that's optimistic and sincere...nostalgic palettes, expansive environments, the wide-eyed pose - it's the kind of sound that would have you believe the world is a big place and it's full of possibility” (Chart Attack). “Empowering, feminist, and poppy enough to dance to [SUGAR] is a gem" (Ride the Tempo). The follow-up to For Esmé's self-titled debut, SUGAR is "as grounded and solid a record as anything that has come out this year from bands who have already graduated to headliner status" (Grayowl Point).
