TIM MOXAM AND LIZ STRINGER TEAM UP ON UPCOMING CANADIAN TOUR
Toronto, ON - January 11, 2017 - Roaring Girl Records labelmates Tim Moxam and Liz Stringer are set to join forces on an upcoming Canadian winter tour. With an extra container of windshield wiper fluid on hand, Canadian singer-songwriter Moxam and Australian songstress Stringer, along with a full band, will brave the chilly East Coast winds to warm the listening rooms with their stunning voices. Moxam celebrated an exciting 2016 with the release of his new album, Soft Summer (Roaring Girl Records/Fontana North); while Stringer dropped her incredible new collection of songs, All The Bridges (RGR/FN), in the summer of 2016. The tour will kick off in Quebec, with stops along the way in PEI, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario. For a taste of what you'll hear check out Moxam's track Harvest for the Queen, and Stringer's driving song Anyone. Full tour details below.
What's The Story about Tim Moxam?|
Moxam recruited a who's who in Toronto's music scene for Soft Summer: former bandmates, Adrian Cook (guitar) and Tony McKnight (bass) of Great Bloomers, Joshua Van Tassel (drums) of Great Lake Swimmers, and Lemon Bucket Orkestra's Christopher Weatherstone (saxophone.) The songstresses Ivy Mairi (The Weather Station, Bruce Peninsula) and Raffa Weyman (RALPH and formerly Queen of the Fleet) provided accompanying vocals on several tracks. The album was recorded, mixed and produced by Chris Stringer, who has worked with Timber Timbre, Ohbijou, The Wooden Sky and Gentlemen Reg, among countless others. In 2016 Tim shared the stage with The Strumbellas, Donovan Woods, Coeur de Pirate, to name a few.
"Soft Summer is a sparkling debut LP from this emerging Canadian songwriter." - CBC Music
" 'Meant to Be' toes the line between melancholy and hope, pairing gentle acoustic strumming with Moxam's twangy alt-country vocal delivery." - Exclaim!
What's The Story about Liz Stringer?
With acclaimed producer and engineer Adam Selzer (The Decemberists, Jolie Holland, Fleet Foxes, M Ward) at the helm, All The Bridges, Stringer's 5th studio album, was recorded over 8 days in July 2015 at Selzer's studio, Type Foundry, in Portland, Oregon, USA and features prominent Portland mainstays Luke Ydstie (bass) and Ben Nugent (drums) on rhythm section duties. The result is a vibrant and assured album, playing tribute to the new West Coast sound with the addition of an almost 80's inspired urgency, while staying true to Stringer's roots; telling the common story of the simple soul through folk and rock and roll, layered with bold electric guitars and rich background vocals. All The Bridges is everything fans have come to rely on from a Liz Stringer album, and more.
Fresh off the road following a national Australian tour with a full band, including major Aussie festivals and a month of launch shows at Australian venues to packed audiences, Stringer is ready to return to Canada this winter. All The Bridges hit a swag of favourite lists for 2016 in Australia, including the Inside Sleeve's top five records of 2016 (ABC Radio National) and number one in the Best Australian Releases at Basement Discs record store, Melbourne. She'll round off her visit with a stop at Folk Alliance in Kansas City, as an official showcase artist after the Canadian tour.
